Code of Conduct

Everyone is welcome here at Cephas Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy where we are committed to providing all of our members and guests with a high-quality experience in a respectful, safe, clean, and family-friendly environment. Most of all, we want everyone to have fun! We all have different goals but we are all part of one community.

All are welcome here, we simply expect all students to conduct themselves in a respectful manner, based on the guidelines above. We thank you for complying with our code of conduct. If you have any questions or concerns, we are happy to help however possible. Please feel free to contact us at cephasbjj@gmail.com at any time.

  1. All uniforms should be clean, washed, dry, and free of rips and tears.
    • GI CLASS: White gis only, except during competition classes, and where noted.
    • NO GI CLASS: All black no-gi attire, except during competition classes, and where noted. No-gi attire must be free of zippers, buttons, and pockets.
  2. We require that students refrain from training when sick or infectious as doing so imposes a health risk on others. This includes having colds, fevers, flu, viruses, as well as fungal rashes, and other infections on the skin. This is for the safety of everyone. Thank you for your cooperation.
  3. Please use changing stalls or bathrooms to change.
  4. Please wear shoes/sandals throughout the academy, especially in the restrooms. No shoes on the mats. Feet should be clean prior to stepping on the mats and we are happy to provide cleaning wipes if needed at any time.
  5. Please avoid wearing jewelry and other accessories while training. These may cause minor injuries/abrasions to the skin. Visit the front desk if you would like to borrow a small container to safely place jewelry in during class.
  6. Keep walkways clear of items; we have cubbies and hooks available for storage.
  7. Please do not directly coach children or other students during class. This may interfere with the student’s ability to problem-solve on their own, and it is disruptive to instructors and all participating.
  8. Toenails and fingernails MUST be kept clean and neatly trimmed at all times for your safety and that of your training partners.
  9. All black belt instructors should be addressed as “Professor” and non-black belt instructors as “Coach.” While this is mandatory, it is a sign of respect.
  10. Bow when entering and leaving the mat as a sign of respect and gratitude. While this is mandatory, it is a sign of respect.
  11. If you are late to class, please enter the building and mat space quietly to minimize disruption.
  12. Please feel free to take photos of/inside the academy! However, please do not videotape longer than 30 sec or take photos of/during classes without permission from the instructor.
  13. Please reframe from eating or drinking beverages other than water inside the dojo.

All are welcome here. We simply expect all students to conduct themselves in a respectful manner, based on the guidelines above. We thank you for complying with our code of conduct.
